This song mixes electronic dance music with bluegrass, southern gospel and jazz. It’s built around the chorus of a 1920s bluegrass/gospel song by McVay and Johnson. I couldn’t find a lot about them. I know the song was recorded On Oct. 17, 1928, in Johnson City, Tenn. It was released by Columbia Records.
The song starts out with just the original recording. I looped the chorus and then built on that. Byt the third round, we’re in full-blown dance mode. Then I transition into a chord progression based on the original overlaid with soprano sax. The song ends with a reprise of the chorus – the final time through washed in reverb for more of an atmospheric feel.
