The other day, I posted the following section of the Kentucky State Constitution on the Our Last Hope Facebook Page.
All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted for their peace, safety, happiness and the protection of property. For the advancement of these ends, they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may deem proper.
Apparently, this concept offends some people, as evidenced by a small exodus from the page.
I should make something clear: I am not a secession advocate. I believe we should pursue nullification as a way of bringing the federal government back within its proper bounds. It is the “moderate middle road” between unlimited submission and outright disassociation.
But I think it’s important that We the People recognize we are sovereign. We are in charge. And we are ultimately subservient to no government or institution!
That was the point of the post. I’m sorry I offended some folks with this notion.
And by sorry – I mean not sorry.
