“10 Minutes Closer to Freedom”
Some people seem to think a Trump presidency means the federal government will be more faithful to the Constitution. Does it? In this episode of Thoughts from Maharrey Head, I talk about it.
Several people I know have expressed optimism that a Trump presidency will mean fewer unconstitutional federal actions. After all, conventional wisdom holds that Republicans are “better” on the Constitution than Democrats. One friend even suggested the Tenth Amendment Center would be less busy since we dodged the Hillary Clinton bullet and with Obama leaving office.
In this episode of Thoughts from Maharrey Head, I explain why I’m skeptical of those who think Trump will be more faithful to the Constitution than his predecessor. I focus in on the appointment of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General and comments made by Trump advisor Newt Gingrich as a foreshadowing of what’s to come.
